One of my oldest friends, Baljit sat for this study on a weekend jolly. It’s interesting painting someone you’ve known since their early teens. You’ve seen their face change so much, but also stay the same. Capturing the personalty or essence of your sitter is key with such old friends. I listened to Baljit’s favourite music while completing the painting, something I feel really helped me tap into my memories of growing up together.
